My current project is a Garage Shed/ Deck and Pergola all under 1 roof line. Last Monday just poured 8 m3 concrete for 450mm post holes, 450mm bored piers for foundations and a retaining wall. Just beat the rain, although did get washed out a few times before hand. This is the first time i bitumen coated the complete length of the cypress pine posts. The best thing so far on bitumen posts is they haven't cracked or split. Not sure if i'd like it or not, but i really do like it now, and surprisingly, i have already had a couple of positive comments. What do you think, good or bad? Got a similar project going on would love to hear about it and see some pics.
Just cut off internal stumps (150 x135mm ironbark) level and connected bearers (3 x 90x35mm laminated F17 KDHW) and joist (90 x 45mm treated pine). Finally starting to look like a deck. Picked up merbau decking at Masters $4.60 per metre no joins, first big buy at Masters was very happy, but i still go to Bunnings. Halfway in laying the deck, 1250 screws in total, using Wurth Stainless Steel Screws 50mm ($65 for 250 screws, not cheap but they are great to use), totally recommend them. Got the big black centre beam and the two outside jarrah beams up. Just put up the merbau rafters and noggins (battens). Roof on, handrails done, backwall built. Next - merbau bar top, on top of handrails and downpipes to be connected.
